Monday, November 11, is Veterans Day. All students are required to wear Formal Dress on Veterans Day. Part of the Eagle Ridge Academy vision statement is that Eagle Ridge Academy will offer an academically rigorous, time-tested, Classical liberals arts curriculum that fosters an appreciation for the United States of America and her unique role in the world. On Veterans Day, we want our students to understand what it means to be a Veteran and to honor the selfless sacrifice that so many have made for our freedoms.

We have been busy creating a more impactful Veterans Day experience for the whole school this year on Monday, November 11. In an effort to integrate veteran voices into the school day and increase engagement with the whole K-12 school, we have planned for a day full of music and discussion.

We are seeking veterans to speak with our students in a roundtable setting over multiple sessions. Our topics this year include: commitment to service, adversity, honor, global perspective, wartime vs. peacetime, and personal growth. We want to encourage all veterans to take an active role by sharing their story and perspective with students. Each speaking time slot is approximately 90 minutes or less. Speakers can be employees, parents, relatives of either, or members of our communities. Facilitators will have preselected questions developed with student input structured around the session topic. Learn more and sign up for a session here.

Additionally, if you or a family member has served and you would like to include a photo in our Veterans Day slideshow, please email a photo of the veteran to fcastro@eagleridgeacademy.org and include their name and the branch of the military they served in prior to Friday, November 8. If you have already submitted a photo in the past, you do not need to resend. It will already be included in the slideshow.

Please help us spread the word and encourage your veteran to take part in Eagle Ridge Academy’s Veterans Day this year!
