Topics to be covered will include academic progress, financial health, extracurricular activities, goal progress
from 2017-18, and opportunities for growth for 2018-19. There will also be a Questions and Answer session.
6:00-7:15pm – “Parenting Our Children with a Resiliency Perspective: Can I Keep Positive in the Journey?”
Description: Parenting children can be an experience of extremes – rewarding beyond belief and frustrating to the points of anger, frustration, and fear. In this participatory and interactive presentation, we will discuss proactive research-based strategies to increase our effectiveness as parents. Strategies that increase our children’s resiliency and positive life outcomes will be highlighted. Emphasizing contemporary brain research, strength-based approaches focusing on encouragement will be shared
Doug Pelcak, MA LSC, from the Department of School Counseling and Stephanie Groves, counselor intern at Eagle Ridge Academy will present. Doug as been a school counselor for over thirty years and presently is an instructor in the School Counseling Department at Adler Graduate School in Richfield. He also runs a private psychotherapy practice. Stephanie is a ten year veteran of the Youth Frontiers organization. Youth Frontiers presents core values retreats with students and staff. She recently organized the successful fifth grade Kindness Retreat for Eagle Ridge.
