Dear Kindergarten Families,
Thank you for choosing Eagle Ridge Academy to start your child’s school career. We are happy to have you as a part of our community and look forward to meeting each of you as we start the year. As we prepare for your child’s kindergarten year, we want to ensure that we not only get to know your child as a scholar, but also give all students time to become acclimated to their new school. To that end, we have scheduled an individual assessment for your child on Tuesday, August 22 as well as an orientation day on EITHER Wednesday, August 23, OR Thursday, August 24.

Assessment Day (Individual appointment – Uniform required.)
Your child has been scheduled for a Kindergarten Assessment on Tuesday, August 22. Readiness assessments will be given to your child at that time as a way for us to begin understanding your child as a learner. Kindergarten teachers, as well as other trained school staff, will be working individually with your child.
Jump-Start to Kindergarten (8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. – Uniform required.)
To give your child time to acclimate to their teacher, classroom, school, and to begin learning school routines and schedules, we will be holding two Jump-Start to Kindergarten days. Each teacher’s class will be divided in half and students will attend one shortened day, EITHER Wednesday, August 23, OR Thursday, August 24.
During the Jump-Start Day your kindergartner attends, they will be doing the following:
- Getting to know their teacher and a small group of their peers.
- Learning about how going to school works, including the routines, parts of the building, recess, school rules, and lunch. Students are welcome to bring a lunch from home or receive one from school.All students can receive a free breakfast and/or lunch from school this year. Vegetarian and meat options are always available. If receiving lunch from school, please make sure your child understands which option they prefer.
- Meeting their specialist teachers.
- Meeting our school counselor and participating in some initial Social Emotional Learning (SEL).
The Jump-Start to Kindergarten days will run from 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Parents will drop off and pick up their children at Door 2 (Main Entrance). Transportation will NOT be provided Tuesday, August 22 – Thursday, August 24.
First Full Day (8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. – Uniform required.)
Your child will begin attending full-day kindergarten with their whole class beginning Friday, August 25. Parents may walk students to class on this day if they would like.
Beginning Monday, August 28, students need to walk to the classroom on their own. It is important we allow our youngest students’ independence to develop as they begin their school career. There will be many staff members available to greet and assist them in finding their way should they need help.
